Kent County Show

15th & 16th & 17th July

Why Farming Matters in Kent will have a 2000sqm area at the County Show.  We will be showcasing Kentish fruit with a living orchard, 9m long commercial polytunnel, sheep shearing and auction, sheep pens, calves and pigs.  Visitors will also be able to see large farm machinery; combine harvester, tractor and drill, challenger tillage machine which prepares the soil and a cultivator as well as specialist fruit machinery provided by N.P Seymour.

Inside the large marquee will be ride-on tractors for children, cookery demonstrations and the Bramley Campaign will be providing samples of delicious prize-winning apple pie.  In another section of the marquee visitors will be able to watch a large plasma screen will give information about fruit production.  Growers and farmers will answer visitors’ questions and people can  press apples for juice, look at bee hives used for pollination and see a display from Kent’s own brewer Shepherd Neame, whose staff will be talking about beer making.

‘Let’s Talk Farming’ is the theme of the NFU’s national Food and Farming Roadshow which will be in the area on Saturday as well as our giant apple and pear who will be making appearances throughout all three days.  So if it is a wonderful sunny day, bring a picnic (remember to bring some English Fruit) and use the complimentary Why Farming Matters in Kent picnic area.
